Our Community

St Peter’s Church in Rawdon, Leeds, is a cherished Anglican place of worship with deep roots in the community. Known affectionately as the “village church,” it serves as a spiritual home for individuals and families in Rawdon and the surrounding areas.

The church is housed in a Grade II-listed building, with its tower dating back to 1706 and the main body of the church constructed in the late 19th century. Built from coursed squared sandstone, the church features a distinctive three-stage tower with a chamfered plinth, a large clock face, and a belfry window with cusped louvred lights. Inside, the church boasts a scissor-braced roof and aisle arcades supported by cylindrical columns with foliated capitals.

Visitors and members alike appreciate the church for its warm and welcoming atmosphere, beautiful building, and strong choral and musical traditions. The congregation is known for being friendly and supportive, offering good pastoral care to all who seek it.

The church is led by Revd. Rachel Ford, who was appointed as the vicar in July 2023. Rachel is a regular visitor to school and can be found either leading worship or spending time with the children at play and lunchtime.

On the final Monday of each half-term, the whole school visits church together to give thanks. It's always a special service and one we all look forward to.
